The 5th Working Managers’ Programme (WMP) inaugurated at IIM Lucknow’s NOIDA campus

IIM Lucknow’s Noida Campus inaugurated its 5th batch of Working Managers’ Programme (WMP). Dr. Devi Singh, Director, IIM Lucknow inaugurated the orientation session of the 2009-2012 batch at IIM Lucknow’s Noida Campus. Prof. Punam Sahgal, Dean, IIM Lucknow’s Noida Campus, Prof. Amit Mookerjee, Chairman -WMP, Prof. Ajay Singh, Chairman MDP and CIC, and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.


(1888PressRelease) July 01, 2009 - Working Managers’ Programme is the pioneering programme of Noida Campus. It was launched in 2005 along with the launch of the NOIDA campus as a three year part time programme in Management for professionals having a minimum of three years of work experience.

(WMP) is a uniquely designed programme for working executives, entrepreneurs and professionals who have a desire to enhance their knowledge and skills in a formal setting while continuing to be engaged in their ongoing professions / businesses. The programme is especially structured to meet learning aspirations of enthusiastic and bright executive and will inculcate in them strong conceptual fundamentals and skills required to manage businesses of the future.

“Indian economy at this stage of globalisation requires great managerial talent to help drive the change. Working Managers programme has been able to live upto the expectations of the economy as well as the students as the academic structure has been designed through many consultative rounds within the academia and the industry”, says Dr. Devi Singh, Director, IIM Lucknow.

“The focus on executive talent requirements in the country has led to the unique program designs and delivery based around practitioners and their needs. IIM Lucknow has pioneered the concept in its Working Managers’ Programme through a judicious mix of excellent pedagogy, faculty and industry interactiveness”, says Prof. Amit Mookerjee, Chairman WMP, IIM Lucknow’s Noida campus.

There has been a steep rise in number of applications for the programme proving it to be one step ahead of any other part time programme for working managers. There was a great response from working professionals, based on the success of previous batches. The final list has 69 participants which includes 6 female students.

The new batch of WMP students have job experience in varied fields with IT contributing 71% of the total students, PSUs 14%, Sales and Marketing sector 8% and Banking 7%.

The educational background of students shows that around 80% hail from an engineering background, while science contributes 10% of the students and commerce 9%.

The work experience of the students shows that 57% of students have 3 to 6 years of experience, 16% have 9 to 12 years, 12% have 2 to 3 years, 9% have 6 to 9 years and 3% each for 12 to 15 years and more than 15 years.
