April 28, 2006 - Some people are still scratching their heads wondering how can a text book be generating such a big buzz? One probably reason could be that some believe it contains the outline for the next electronic wonders. While others envision it as offering a possible cure for Cancer or AIDS. Others, however, see one of its projects called Strategy as the blue print for the software that will finally give Microsoft Explorer a run for its money.
Now, whether any of this is even possible or it’s just all wishful thinking, will be up to some Harvard or Stanford student as well as a Community College or inner city high school kid, according to its author Julie Duncan-Archibold. But actually anyone who manages to get their hands on The Brainstormer will have the option to patent any of the ideas suggested in the book.
The Brainstormer. Think, Imagine, Create is a compilation made by Archibold of over 120 business ideas as well as suggestions of how to develop and market them. These ideas are divided into 15 different categories that range from domestic to personal and cosmetic, to electronics, to retail, to health, to architecture and entertainment among others.
“Because of the way some people are reacting to [The Brainstormer] –Archibold commented- I found it wise to include a “warning” inside the book. This is just a compilation of great ideas that if carried out to completion would definitely help make our world a better place. But it’s just the fist stage, all I want is for young people around the world to think in a more creative way. There are new possibilities all around us".
The release date is set for June 1st the day CID (creativity and innovation day) was born. It is said that the combined market value that this book will help generate is at least US$100 Billion. All of the buzz surrounding The Brainstormer could just be a big bubble that bursts at any given moment. Yet one thing is for sure, if all the ideas outlined in the book could in fact materialize, then US$100 billion could end up being a rather conservative figure.
