Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease)
February 10, 2009 - The Villages of Apex is pleased to announce the opening of the new Thales Academy campus at 1177 Ambergate Station in The Villages of Apex community. The private elementary school welcomes children ages K-5 with plans to expand to K-8 in the future.
“We are very excited about the opening of the school, and are pleased to be supporting educational opportunities for our region’s children”, said Mike Howington, co-owner of The Villages of Apex developer Apex First Development. Apex First Development donated the land for the school to Thales Academy. The Villages of Apex community, which was named 2008 Mixed-Use Community of the Year for the state of North Carolina by the North Carolina Home Builders Association, is a 200+ acre tract of land being developed between historic downtown Apex and US Highway 64 west.
The developer is taking great care to create a world-class, mixed-use community that will complement the Apex historic district. When complete, The Villages of Apex neighborhoods will include a total of 1,300 residential units including Georgetowns, neo-traditional homes, luxury urban condominiums, Brownstones, patio homes and single-family homes. The neighborhoods are being built around a village center featuring quaint cafes, unique specialty shops and restaurants for fine dining. Recreational amenities abound, including a 13 acre city park, a two acre dog park, a resort-style amenities center as well as miles of paved greenways interwoven throughout the community for walking, bike riding and jogging.
Apex First Development is designing The Villages of Apex as a “Clean Vision Community” ™ and as part of that mission, is giving buyers free Chrysler GEM electric cars or up to four electric scooters.
“Because everything is so close, residents won’t have much need for a gas-powered vehicle, so it makes perfect sense to give buyers electric-powered vehicles as part of our Clean Vision™ mission,” said Howington. “We are also installing electric charging stations at key locations throughout the community to make things even more convenient for our residents. We envision a community where neighbors are tooling around in their electric vehicles to go to the club, run by the store or visit the doctor’s office.”
