November 15, 2006 - Meetup.com helps people find others who share their interest or cause, and form lasting, influential, local community groups that regularly meet face-to-face. Currently the group is targeting tequila lovers worldwide. Charter members of the group will have the option to create local chapters in their own communities. The Florida Chapter will create tequila events throughout the state, as well as offer free tequila related items by mail. For example, all members signed up by December 15th will receive the recipe photo guide “Gourmet Margaritas”. There is no fee to join and no membership dues.
The club's first event was at the Melbourne International Film Festival Saturday, November 11, 2006. Featured at the event was the mysterious new Ulta-Premium tequila -Voodoo Tiki Tequila (www.voodootiki.com) as well as three Gourmet Margaritas made with infused tequilas: Prickly Pear Cactus Tequila, Mandarin Lime Tequila and Blue Raspberry Kiwi Tequila.
Over 100 people visited the “Tequila Hut”, a 10 foot structure where the tasting was hosted. Members received a recipe guide, tasted all the tequilas and margaritas as well as received a first look at the funky gourmet margaritas that will be sampled at upcoming events such as Gummi Bear Margarita, Caramel Apple Margarita, Tiramisu Margarita, Mango Margarita and others.
