September 17, 2009 - TemaHome (www.temahome.com), Portugal’s top design brand of contemporary furniture and home accessories with sales in 46 countries, will be presenting its limited edition pieces entitled “The Lisbon Collection” (www.thelisboncollection.com) for the first time in England, looking to further establish its identity in the British market.
Designed exclusively by acclaimed names of Portuguese industrial design, the collection is composed of 5 distinct products including the Handle stools designed by Fernando Brizio, an item acclaimed this year by the international media. The collection also includes the Tavares chair, designed by Marco Sousa Santos; the Gem tables designed by Filipe Alarcão; and the Furoshiki rug and the Scatola Armonica sideboard, both designed by Miguel Vieira Baptista.
According to the company´s CEO, Stephan Morais - “the collection, that included the intervention of major Portuguese fashion designers for the catalogue photo shoot, is an important step in the modern history of Portuguese product design, and reinforces Portugal as a current contender in the international design scene”.
The collection, presented in Milan and New York earier this year caught the eye of design moguls Karim Rashid and Jakob Wagner, who are now developing projects for 2010 with the company.
Currently known across the globe as the ambassador of Portuguese design, the company was initially founded in 1981 by Norwegians and Portuguese investors. In 2006, the company became the Portuguese reference in furniture design when it successfully gathered the best names in Portuguese design to develop its new collections under the TemaHome brand.
Today, TemaHome products can be found in over 1400 retailers across 46 countries, delivering an image of contemporary living that crosses cultural borders.
With a production facility of 17,000 mt2 and 170 employees, the company produces an excess of 90,000 items monthly making it the largest furniture exporter in Portugal.
