Taunton Press Names Brian Pontolilo Editor Of Fine Homebuilding Magazine

Fine Homebuilding, the largest and most trusted residential construction magazine in America and a nationally respected showcase of beautifully designed homes, promotes Brian Pontolilo to editor.


New York, NY (1888PressRelease) May 28, 2009 - The Taunton Press, whose category-leading magazines, books and digital products in the House & Home market provide information and inspiration to millions of quality-minded people, is pleased to announce that Brian Pontolilo has been named editor of Fine Homebuilding magazine. The announcement was made by Paul Spring, Chief Content Officer at Taunton Press. Brian replaces Kevin Ireton who is stepping down after 17 years as editor to become Fine Homebuilding’s editor-at-large, continuing to contribute to the magazine in areas of his special expertise.

In his new position, Brian will oversee all editorial aspects of the Fine Homebuilding brand including the magazine; special issues, its website www.taunton.com/finehomebuilding/, special projects, video and DVD series. “His tenure at the magazine, his energetic ascension through the ranks, and now his new role as editor are a testament to Brian’s skill, talent, and dedication to the crafts of both building and journalism. He is a visionary new leader for the Fine Homebuilding brand,” said Mr. Spring.

Brian started at Fine Homebuilding in 2002, working up the ladder as intern, editorial assistant, assistant editor, associate editor, managing editor, and now moving up to editor. He has been the editorial driver behind some of Fine Homebuilding’s most successful special publications such as: Decks, Energy Smart Homes and Kitchen & Bath Planning Guide. Brian is also experienced working in the fields that he has become expert in writing about – that includes jobs in the carpentry, painting and landscaping trades. According to outgoing editor Kevin Ireton, “It was clear early on that Brian had all of the tools to be a top editor someday. He’s a multi-talented journalist - highly skilled in writing, editing and photography – and has worked closely with me over the years, particularly during his time as managing editor. We’re all proud to put Fine Homebuilding in such capable hands.”

Brian is a graduate of Western Connecticut State University with a B.A. in Professional Writing. He lives in Northfield, CT.
