February 01, 2007 - SYSPRO, Costa Mesa-Calif.-based producer of enterprise software for small and medium size manufacturers and distributors, has announced the participation of Brian Stein, SYSPRO USA CEO, in the 9th Annual UCI Basketball Extravaganza to be held at the Bren Events Center on the UCI campus February 1, 2007.
UCI’s Annual Basketball Extravaganza was created by the Chief Executive Roundtable to raise scholarship dollars for UCI’s men’s and women’s athletics.
During the halftime of the basketball game between UCI and the University of the Pacific, Stein will join other Chief Executive Roundtable members to engage in a shoot-out competition. Each of four teams will have two minutes to shoot as many baskets as they can; the team with the most baskets will win bragging rights for the coming year. The coveted BX trophy is awarded to the winning team captain at the first timeout of the second half of the game.
Team captains include giants of Orange County-based industry, including Henry Samueli, Co-Founder, Chairman of the Board & Chief Technical Officer, Broadcom Corporation; Robert Farnsworth, President and CEO, Sonnet Technologies, Inc/; Bob Phillippy, President, Newport Corporation; and Chris Calcaterra, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Advanced Medical Optics, Inc.
Although he won’t comment on his basketball shooting skills, Stein says he is very pleased to participate in UCI’s Chief Executive Roundtable Basketball Extravaganza, noting that SYSPRO has been a proud sponsor of UCI’s current basketball season. Stein adds that SYSPRO, as a company, has always had a stake and an interest in community relations as well as building the framework for better education within the community. He feels strongly that local companies always have an obligation to making their community a better place to live and work through an active involvement in all types of programs.
