February 26, 2008 - Swedish interior design has helped BBC Homes and Antiques magazine publish a special 5 page feature on the history of swedish antique furniture in their march issue. This collaboration acknowledges the expertise that swedish interior design has accumulated in the field of swedish antiques and mora clocks.
The feature dispels the myth that swedish furniture is just the white painted gustavian pieces that have formed the basis of the modern reproduction furniture industry.
The article covers the swedish louis xvi, grey gustavian, baroque clocks ,mora clocks and the kurbits folk art styles from the last 200 years of swedish history. Each one is looked at in detail, discussing the individual adornments and wood types that make up each style of furniture so that readers know what to look out for when they buy. It also puts each style in its correct historical context to explain why each style developed as it did.
The feature is accompanied by stunning photography by polly eltes and styled by gabi tubbs and shot in a setting designed and created by Swedish Interior design using Gustavian colours and textures, organic non toxic paints and materials - stunning examples of each genre.
