Swedbank implements new management structure

Swedbank has decided to implement a new management structure as a further step in the bank´s ongoing change program. This implementation is a part of Swedbank´s ambition to shift responsibility and authority closer to the bank´s customers, in order to strengthen the bank and improve long-term profitability.

(1888PressRelease) June 13, 2009 - Decisions related to the day-to-day business operations in Swedbank will be managed by a new decision-making body, the Senior Management, consisting of 27 individuals, including the regional Heads within Swedish Banking as well as the Heads of the three Baltic countries. The members of the Senior Management in full are presented in Appendix 1.

Strategic issues will be managed by the Group Executive Committee, consisting of nine individuals.

The above mentioned changes will be effective from August 15, 2009.

In connection with the new organisation, changes are also made to the Group level committee structure, in order to enhance systematic and uniform handling of important issues within the Group. An example of this is the "Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) dedicated to manage issues related to balance sheet, liquidity and risk. Furthermore, a "Compliance and Risk Control Committee is set up to streamline and increase consistency in the risk area.

In connection with the new management structure Marie Hallander Larsson has been appointed as new Head of Human Resources of Swedbank Group. To emphasize the employees´ role in the continued development of the bank, the Head of Group HR will become a member of the Group Executive Committee. The current Head of Human Resources, Peter Magnusson, will remain in his position until Marie Hallander Larsson takes up her position, and he will thereafter take on the position as Deputy Head of HR.
