September 13, 2007 - Sutherland was announced as the winner for 2007 India Six Sigma Contest for IT enabled services companies. This contest is conducted by the Indian Statistical Institute in association with the Quality Council of India (QCI) and the National Institute for Quality and Reliability (NIQR). Big names like Infosys, Wipro, GE R&D, Mind Tree, Satyam, Hewlett Packard and Deutsche Bank participated in the contest.
Each company who participated in the contest gave a detailed case study presentation and had a Q&A session with a panel of judges. Each organization was supposed to discuss project goals, scope, time frame, expected benefits, and steps covered in the live project. Sutherland Global Services was declared the winner after it beat Infosys and Wipro to gain number one position.
The competition was aimed at promoting quality and sharing working methods across different industries and rewarding the best. Sutherland emerged as the winner due to its high quality methodologies that aim at eliminating defects. Winning the Six Sigma Contest is a great achievement for the company.
