Successors To Revolution Grow Up

President Kim Il Sung, the leader Kim Jong Il and the anti-Japanese woman hero Kim Jong Suk visited this school on numerous occasions to bestow warm love and solicitude on the schoolchildren.

(1888PressRelease) April 23, 2007 - The Mangyongdae Revolutionary School in Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang, is an educational institute bringing up bereaved children of revolutionary martyrs.

President Kim Il Sung, the leader Kim Jong Il and the anti-Japanese woman hero Kim Jong Suk visited this school on numerous occasions to bestow warm love and solicitude on the schoolchildren.

Even under the difficult conditions of the country after its liberation (August 15, 1945), President Kim Il Sung, saying that we should bring up the children of the fighters who died in the struggle against the Japanese imperialists during the anti-Japanese revolutionary war, fixed the site of the school and solved everything from its construction to the life of its children.

Upholding his aspiration to provide the best clothes to the bereaved children of revolutionary martyrs, Kim Jong Suk personally made a school uniform with red stripes meaning that the children of revolutionary martyrs should become pillars defending the country permeated with the blood of the anti-Japanese forerunners. And she saw to it that a statue of the President was erected at the school in consideration of the desires of its children to be always with the President.

The leader Kim Jong Il, too, sends all the educational equipment and necessaries of life to the school and meticulously looks after the children’s life.

On the New Year’s Day in Juche 86 (1997) he visited the school, saying he wanted to spend the holiday with the children.

Thanks to the scrupulous care of the three generals of Mt. Paektu the school has developed into an excellent educational institute during the past 60 years.

Its physical, chemical and biological laboratories are equipped with thousands of pieces of experimental apparatus. It has a gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool, a library, a dormitory, dining rooms, a hospital and all kinds of service amenities.

Bereaved children of martyrs who devoted their lives at posts in defence of the country, in socialist construction and in the struggle to reunify the country and children of special-class disabled soldiers study at the school.

The school educates the children in socio-political subjects, military science and general elementary subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry and foreign languages.

After graduation they enter military schools at various levels or universities to be trained into commanding officers of the Korean People’s Army or scientific and technical cadres.
