Strong Turnout Expected At Purchasing Forum 2007

As IIR Middle East’s 5th Purchasing Forum draws closer, a strong turnout is expected by companies across the Middle East seeking to control organisational expenses and generate savings.

(1888PressRelease) September 14, 2007 - Procurement is in the midst of a major transformation, with globalisation and inflationary pressures adding to the pivotal role it plays in an organisation’s strategic business plan, in a region which now relies heavily on commerce, beyond oil, as a source of revenue.

Forum Chairman, Peter Garnett explains that ‘procurement is such an integral function in the organisation, that it is now being assessed at the board level’. Garnett, who has based his views on the behaviour of 750 procurement and supply chain personnel in 47 countries, encourages organisations to nurture from within and deploy with confidence.

Workshop leader Dr Dermot Carey advocates that ‘efficient sourcing and working with supplier resources can provide an organisation with an enormous competitive advantage’. His procurement approach has been implemented in major organisations resulting in multi-million dollar savings and benefits.

Dr Graham Smith, a process leader and synonymous in the region with e-procurement, will present an independent view on the advantages and disadvantages of its implementation, across industries and companies in the Middle East.

With research from past delegates as its foundation, the Forum includes time for discussions and special interactive debates to confer with colleagues and benefit from participants’ collective experience.

Attending the Forum will ensure a broad spectrum perspective of what leading companies are doing to streamline costs and optimise efficiency.

‘With rave reviews from previous years, this longest running, Forum in the region is an event like no other, exclusive and relevant to a purchasing manager’s integral role in the organisation’, says Raza Chevel, Conference Manager, IIR Middle East, organisers of the 5th Middle East Purchasing Forum 2007. The Forum is to be held on 18th – 22nd November in Dubai, the re-export hub of the Middle East with an insatiable appetite for regional procurement.
