Strike Action Withdrawn In Ennis Fire Brigade Dispute by Dunphy Public Relations

Ennis, County Clare, 11.30pm, 18th December 07 - Clare County Council has confirmed this evening that SIPTU, the union representing fire fighters in Ennis Fire Brigade, has withdrawn notice of all out strike action by its members.

(1888PressRelease) December 19, 2007 - "Strike action, due to commence at midnight tonight, has been withdrawn", stated Adrian Kelly, Chief Fire Officer, Clare County Fire and Rescue Service.

Officer Kelly continued, "Any issues that members of Ennis Fire Brigade have sought to be addressed will now be dealt with through the established industrial relations processes of the Rights Commissioner and the Labour Relations Commission services."

Commenting on the latest development, Mr. Ger Dollard, Director of Services, Clare County Council, said, "All contingency plans, that had been prepared in the event of strike action taking place, have been aborted."

"Clare County Council would like to ensure members of the public that services provided by Ennis Fire Brigade will continue as normal", Mr. Dollard concluded.
