January 20, 2009 - Streaky Mastering have added the new Maselec Electronics 3 band compressor to its already extensive kit list.
The Maselec Multiband is essentially 3 Maselec Compressors bolted together and set apart with frequency crossovers. The gain controls for each band then work as extra eq by boosting the selected crossover frequencies. Each band of compressor can be linked in a variety of configurations or all together to turn the unit as a single stereo compressor.
“The Maselec Multiband is a massive step forward in the way you can manipulate tracks,” says Streaky, he continues “I approach it in the same way I would a parametric or dynamic equalizer, but it’s a compressor so it’s a whole new ball game. You can open tracks up that have been compressed to death, get huge amounts of perceived level from it or I simply use it for some extra broadband EQ. As with all the Maselec equipment the unit is ultra quite and precise, when pushing level through it the Maselec sound is really something special.”
Since it’s start Maselec Electronics audio products have been essential kit for all major Mastering and Recording studios around the world, most of the music made with the last decades will probably have gone through one of their pieces at some point in it’s making.
