STORMBIRD MEDIA is based in beautiful Bali on the Island of the Gods.
STORMBIRD is synonymous with the gregarious character Dean Allan Tolhurst.
STORMBIRD had humble beginnings back in 1977 when Dean started the dream in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, as a music production company. A professional musician himself, Dean owned and managed recording facilities, producing and releasing singles and albums for national release on the fledgling and independent STORMBIRD MUSIC label. In the mid 80's he relocated to Perth, Western Australia, and while continuing with various bands there, learned the hard yards of television production at STW 9 and post-house Editel. Dean's background in music and audio became a valuable asset in the world of video editing, and in the mid 90's he was head-hunted by Asian and European production companies, where he's continued his career ever since. Senior Editor at Post Office, Jakarta, Production Manager at PPV, Athens, Post Production Supervisor for Becker Entertainment, Singapore, and various other freelance and project-based appointments in Warsaw, Stockholm, Bangkok and Indonesia have helped Dean keep the dream alive.
After the Bali Bombings of October, 2002, Dean edited the documentary series Bali Menangis (Bali Cries) for GMM films, then the award winning Bali: Hope in Paradise, also for GMM with director Jane Walters. Relocating to beautiful Legian Beach, Bali, Dean now continues the STORMBIRD dream, producing, directing, editing and composing for international clients, directors and production companies. We are outfitted with FCP HD, Avid, Pro Tools, AFX and 3DS Max, broadband satellite access, and superb 4 star beach-side accommodations. |
