Successful Personal Historian Sherry Borzo now chronicles Family Reunion celebrations, designed to help families restore and then preserve their collective family history.
There is no history more important than your own.
Des Moines, IA (1888PressRelease) June 01, 2010 - Sherry Borzo, founder of the local personal publishing service Storied Gifts, announced that she is extending her success as a Personal Historian to include working with Family Reunions in Central Iowa. Having successfully chronicled and preserved personal history for individuals over three years, Storied Gifts will now be available to help with family reunions, capturing family stories, old and new, of the family as they gather. The final result of a Storied Gifts project is a beautiful family history book, providing a permanent heirloom record of the great stories and family times shared. Borzo said, ". . . now that the summer reunion season is here, people are gathering for family vacations and celebrations . . . it is an excellent opportunity to capture stories and important family memories."
Those memories, preserved with photographs from the event (and also vintage family photos), provides a fantastic testimony of the dynamics of the family reunion as well as invaluable memories, preserved forever. "Personal and family history cannot just be taken for granted . . . preserving memories and family lore is not guaranteed. These must be captured," said Ms. Borzo, a member of the Association of Personal Historians. Borzo founded Storied Gifts in 2007 with the goal of helping others with the processes of chronicling family history; her success in publishing personal life stories is, she said, ". . . owed to the simple truth that after all, the most important history in the world is your own."
Ms. Borzo generally is commissioned by families who want to present a truly meaningful gift for an individual - a gift that then becomes an heirloom itself for future generations. She has also worked with individuals who have written - or wish to finish writing - their life story projects. The benefits of making these efforts available to family reunions can ensure that these stories and lessons will not be lost forever. Personal Historian Borzo started Storied Gifts believing that our personal history is essential and our legacy vital. And family reunions are an excellent opportunity to capitalize on the wealth of history and traditions in the family.
