  • Columbus, OH (1888PressRelease) May 18, 2016 - All-Pro running back Le'Veon Bell was joined by over 200 varsity athletes at Groveport Middle School Central on Saturday, May 14th in his hometown of Columbus, OH. Bell brought in top area coaches and his own personal NFL trainers to help strengthen the attendees' foundation of the game and prepare them for the next level.

Bell's goal was to help develop and improve the campers' football fundamentals and skills in this non-contact camp. The high school student athletes rotated between drill stations, including the 40-yard dash, shuttle run and broad jump. Both Bell and the coaches emphasized proper technique and form. The camp had a tremendous showing despite the cool temperatures and intermittent rain.

After completing the on-field portion of the camp, campers joined Bell for lunch and a closing chalk talk. Bell use this time to underscore the importance of maintaining a strong work ethic. Bell's agent, Adisa Bakari, encouraged the group to incorporate the confidence they display on the field into all areas of their lives and a representative from Nationwide Insurance talked about the importance of community involvement. Groveport Mayor Lance Westcamp also presented Bell with an honorable proclamation for his community service through initiatives like his Elite Exposure Camp.

"I'm truly living my dream and competing at the highest level," said Bell. "My own experience motivated me to start this camp because I know what it takes to reach this level. I want to pass along what I've learned and give back to those in my community as they transition to the collegiate level so they can take those tools and be successful."

The Steelers drafted Bell in the 2013 NFL Draft and he has continued to collect accolades early in his professional career. In 2014 he was awarded the Steelers' MVP honor, AFC Offensive Player of the Year, FedEx Ground Player of the Year, Fantasy Player of the Year and selected to the Pro Bowl. Bell is poised to continue on his goal to be one of the NFL's top running backs.

The camp was sponsored in part by the NFL, Pittsburgh Steelers, NFLPA, Nike Football, Sylvia Garrett Nationwide Insurance, BODYARMOR, Popeye's, New Era Cap, Power 107.5, Dr Pepper Snapple Bottling Group, Dynarex, Therapearl, KT Tape, Fleet Feet, Columbus Signs, Columbus Airport Marriott, Groveport EMT, Midwest Fresh, Branham Sign, Groveport Dental, City of Groveport, Groveport Middle School Central and Groveport Madison High School.
