February 03, 2007 - Stargazer Press has released Stargazer's Reading Games for K-3.
This new educational program is an excellent literacy skill for the classroom and joins several other high quality educational programs like Stargazer's Guided Reading Kit, a full guided reading program on a CD.
What makes it so exciting is that there are literally thousands of hours of use for these game boards. These game boards have been at work in the classroom for years but are now compiled onto a portable CD.
"The CD is a definite advantage," says Stargazer Press spokesperson. "Print the game boards in full color. Our author suggests laminating the boards for a lifetime of classroom use."
The CD contains well over 50 game boards with a variation of three central games. As an added bonus, she has also left game boards that teachers or parents can fill in to create their own unique games.
The game boards are interesting to look at and inspire boundless enthusiasm from children.
The game boards teach basic pronunciation of letters, consonant blends, consonant clusters, vowel sounds in short and long form as well as phonemic awareness.
Author of this dynamic program is none other than Gayle Pershing, a Reading Teacher from Missouri. She has used these programs extensively and is the creator of all of them.
What encouraged her to put these together in a useful collection is the student's enthusiasm for the board games. She wanted to make it available to all teachers.
Playing board games in itself inspire children to learn to take turns every step of the way. Encouragement and teamwork are not far behind when this occurs in classrooms or at home.
This resource would also be invaluable for homeschoolers.
Pershing has plans to bring out many more resources through Stargazer Press.
