March 19, 2009 - Iowa rock group Standing Hampton, was named finalist as “Best Local Band” 1st runner up on the 2009 Cityview’s “Best of Des Moines” list this February. This is the first year for the group to land a “best of” title which recognizes excellence in Des Moines as voted upon by the readers. Overall voting was up by 52% this year. Standing Hampton member Douglas Dixon was excited by the award saying, “We’re very proud that our hard work has been acknowledged by the fans in Des Moines and central Iowa. Considering all the talented competition we were up against, we’re honored and elated.”
