July 29, 2009 - Hip-Hop pioneer Duane Hughes, professionally known as "Spyder D" in the music industry, has sent an invitation to IMG World Group, officially inviting Danica Patrick to a showdown against Chrissy Wallace, matching up two of the two biggest female names in the male dominated world of motor sports.
Patrick has rejuvenated the once dominant Indy Car Series by restoring interest in the sport since being named Rookie Of The Year in 2005. Her sultry good looks and colossal racing skills have made her a very popular spokeswoman for various national products, and on April 20, 2008, became the first woman ever to win an Indy Series race when she won the Indy Japan 300.
Wallace is the daughter of NASCAR's Mike Wallace, who is the middle brother of retired future Hall Of Famer Rusty Wallace, and former NASCAR Rookie Of The Year Kenny Wallace. Wallace also has had firsts as a woman driver. Wallace became the first woman ever to win at the then 57 year old Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina, as a nineteen year old back in 2007. She made her NASCAR debut in the Craftsmen Truck Series in Martinsville, Va. in March, 2008, finishing 18th in a field of 36.
Hughes, who entered the world of pro sports back in 2005 when he purchased an American Basketball Association franchise in Charlotte states, "Competition is what sports is all about, right? We are trying to pit two fierce competitors against one another, in a situation where everybody gains. I have read and heard that Danica is thinking about making the leap over to NASCAR where Chrissy is the princess. If that's the case, she gets to gain a lot of NASCAR fans before she makes the leap. Chrissy gets to further solidify the fact that she is not just a part of the Wallace legacy, but that she is the future. Charities that they choose will be the big winner, as I am sure this event will sell out".
"My proposal is to race head to head, twice", continued Hughes. "One, on the most renowned speedway in the world, "The Brickyard", the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and then, take it to the home of NASCAR at Lowes Motor Speedway. When in the Brickyard, they'll race a NASCAR styled vehicle, and when in Charlotte, race Indy styled vehicle. This way, both fan bases get to see their favorite in a different style race that they are accustomed to. We would have an accompanying musical concert at bothe venues, that accomodate all styles and taste in music, including Country, Rock, Pop, and Hip-Hop. It would be great for the racing world, competition at it's highest level for the two racers, and good old fashioned fun for the fans, whether you're into racing or not! Let's get ready to rumble!
