May 22, 2007 - This project was in conjuction with their senior class thesis and required for graduation.
After 6 in-depth lunch meetings with Spectrum employees and many late nights, the students presented a final 50-page research report which included a SWOT anaylsis, interviews with local business owners, and competitor's pricing. "If I were Donald Trump...or Martha Stewart on the Apprentice, they'd all be hired," said Dawn Brazille, Spectrum Director.
"As we grow, we must keep our focus on customer satisfaction and service. We educate our clients on the most efficient way to process credit and debit cards. Finding the best processing solutions ultimately saves our clients time and money," says owner Heather Mickelson. "The students have pointed out exactly what we need to do to stay ahead of the competition."
Spectrum Merchant Services was selected among less than 10 other small businesses to parter with UPS School of Business. "It was an honor to have been chosen," Mickelson comments. While a custom research paper like this would have cost a business well over $15,000, "it was a lot of pizza and soda, a lot of thank yous...I gave them all A's. We had a lot of fun."
Since the implementation of the UPS report, Spectrum has announced Qtr 2 growth of 67% compared to Qtr 1.
