Southern Maryland Hotels - Lexington Park MD - Get Hi-Definition TV Service

Cherry Cove Southern Maryland Hotels and Hospitality announces the addition of Hi-Definition (Hi-Def) TV service to all its St. Mary's County, Lexington Park MD hotels (PAX River Naval Air Station, NAS) area. This is a major investment and upgrade in the counties hospitality offerings for Southern Maryland travelers, visitors and NAS contractors.

Baltimore, MD (1888PressRelease) September 28, 2008 - Lexington Park, MD – Early next year, analog TV will vanish from the US airwaves, to be replaced by digital-only broadcasts. Unwilling to wait until then, Cherry Cove is currently installing dedicated fiber optic digital feeds from MetroCast to its Fairfield Inn and Hampton Inn hotels in Lexington Park, which will feature 82 channels plus 22 high-definition TV channels (including 2 HBO channels). Each hotel room will have an LCD TV capable of full high-definition (1080i dpi), with no video boxes; the remote will talk directly to the set.

The difference between standard analog TV and digital hi-def TV is roughly comparable to the difference between watching a VHS tape and taking in a film at a movie theatre.

“At Cherry Cove Hospitality, our policy is to exceed our customers’ expectations,” said Ray Wernecke, Chief Operating Officer at Cherry Cove Hospitality. “We’re planning renovations at both of these hotels, and this was a good opportunity to get out ahead of the digital switchover and astonish our customers with the outstanding quality of high-definition television.” He expects the system to go live in October.

“MetroCast is proud to be a local company who listens carefully to the needs of our local customers,” said Danny Jobe, General Manager of MetroCast in Hollywood MD. “In the case of Cherry Cove, we were happy to put together a custom solution, with direct and secured fiber optic lines, that bypassed any need for set-top boxes while delivering all of the channels they wanted.”

Guests at the Fairfield Inn and Hampton Inn, immediately adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, will be able to watch ESPN HD, Discovery HD, WJLA HD - ABC and 19 other channels in high definition, as well as a full range of standard digital programming.

Cherry Cove is a hospitality and property management company headquartered in Lexington Park, with the mission to deliver distinctive quality and unparalleled service through a close attention to detail, and uncompromising honesty and integrity.

MetroCast Business Services provides hospitality packages to hotels and meeting venues, as well as custom fiber solutions, high-speed internet and digital cable television service to homes and businesses in nine states in the South, Mid-Atlantic and New England. It also offers web development and web hosting. “We’re a top-of-the-line provider of anything a business or consumer needs for communication,” says Jobe.
