June 29, 2006 - DATELINE: BRAINTREE AND RANDOLPH, MA... More than 500 volunteers attended South Shore Elder Services’ annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon held recently at the Lantana in Randolph. With offices in Braintree, Mass. South Shore Elder Services is a private, non-profit agency providing seniors and caregivers with valuable resources and services.
The Volunteer Recognition Luncheon was held in honor of the 675 volunteers who have generously given their time to South Shore Elder Services. Volunteers dedicate thousands of hours of their time and make many of the agency’s elder programs possible, including Meals On Wheels, Friendly Visitor Program, Money Management program, Ombudsman Program and the Asian Volunteer Program. South Shore Elder Services’ Board of Directors and Advisory Council are also made up of volunteers committed to providing the highest quality of life to elders through the coordination of resources, advocacy and caregiver support.
“It takes a special person to be a volunteer and we are fortunate to have such dedicated and caring volunteers. They are truly the Heart and Soul of our Programs,” said Edward J. Flynn, Jr., Executive Director of South Shore Elder Services.
South Shore Elder Services honored several volunteers with special pins for their devoted years of service.
Recipients of 15 year pins include:
Lynn Donovan, Rosario Trogele, Norah Webster who are volunteers for the Nutrition Program in Hingham; Connie Cahill from the Nutrition Program in Quincy and Carole Murphy for the Ombudsman Program.
Laurie Cosman of the Nutrition Program in Hingham and Eunice Kohler of Nutrition Program in South Weymouth received 20 year pins.
Freida Kramer, Mary Mellon & Frances Olozovy of Nutrition Program in Hull received 25 year pins.
