November 06, 2008 - “We take advertising seriously and want to make sure you get the maximum return on your advertising dollars. We guarantee your audio and video productions are heard by each an every customer. By combining overhead in-store radio commercials with full video commercials broadcasting on large flat screen televisions strategically located through-out the stores guarantee that each and every customer will hear and see your commercials during their shopping experience”
Welcome to the future of advertising! ¬ Point-of-purchase advertising that uses state-of-the-art digital signage, like the LCD flat screen televisions allow retailers to reach their best customers when they’re ready to buy, and allow them to do so at a fraction of the cost of other media and with almost 100 percent penetration. Who can argue with results like that?
Better still, Vendors, distributors, and brokers are able to buy into the advertising program educating customers on their products and increasing customer awareness of the brand, and more importantly increase sales.
Sound Bytes hasn’t reinvented the advertising process however, by using its existing platform for music delivery, adding streaming video, and incorporating RSS feeds for local news, sports and weather it’s our belief that we have certainly made it better.
We like to use the conversion of analog to digital in the cell phone industry as an example. In the early 90’s Nextel discovered that by converting their existing analog 900 frequency to digital signal, they could realize up to seven times the traffic on the same network.
Sound Bytes converts its music receivers with very little cost to include video streaming zone. The audio signal goes out to the speaker system, and the video signal goes to monitors/televisions. Software advances minimizes bandwidth usage without sacrificing the quality of the video and audio stream.
In addition, tracking results on advertised items can easily be obtained by pop data reporting.
Facts and figures
Without quoting numerous research findings, it’s a fact that customer retention has a short life span. We also know that Indoor Digital Signage does the following to shoppers:
Provides an easy way to learn about new and existing products. Influences their decision to buy the advertised product.
Think more positively about the advertised product.
Influenced them to buy the advertised product instead of the one they planned to buy.
Digital signage plays into the consumer’s increased sophistication. It’s no coincidence that retailers, store designers, and consultants are focusing on enhancing the shopping experience, turning the retail space into an energetic, trendy, and vibrant environment. That’s exactly what digital signage, using flat screen technology, offers.
It’s also crucial that the message is part and parcel of the retailer’s overall message, so that the in-store piece has the same look and feel as its TV or print messages. It doesn’t look cheaper or confusing, but delivers the branding to the customer seamlessly; making it another extension of the retailer’s marketing.
The objective is to deliver exactly what the retailer wants, be it to aid a purchase or up sell, build awareness and loyalty, get the customer back in the store for another visit, or reinforce branding.
Sound Bytes Network
Sound Bytes takes pride in the fact that almost its entire network is controlled exclusively by Sound Bytes personnel (excluding the hosting).
Software development, audio & video productions, hardware and installations are all managed by Sound Bytes.
Each client is given its own network partition for all its locations. Receivers check into the data center every sixty seconds for updates. Updates include new play schedules, genre changes and audio commercials. Licensed music is streamed through the internet to each receiver from our host servers. The same principle is applied for video streams. Productions are done in-house, loaded into the clients partition, disbursed to the receivers for playback on large screen LCD televisions. In addition, RSS feeds are also streamed to side bars allocated on each screen. The RSS feeds are constantly updated and act as an additional draw to shoppers.
Outdoor Digital Signage
Sound Bytes Turn Key Solutions include outdoor digital signage as well. Outdoor signage works exactly the same way as the in-store without the RSS feeds.
Common Question
How does Sound Bytes guarantee that each shopper will hear or see an advertisement during their shopping experience, and how is this done without bombarding the customer with commercials?
Sound Bytes does it in layers. It starts with the radio broadcast. Commercial background music constantly streams into the store during all hours of operations. Audio commercials are created in strings of 10 and broadcast in intervals ranging between six to ten minutes. No matter what part of the store the customer is shopping, the radio broadcast is audible.
Large flat screens are suspended over multiple isles (televisions can range from as little as three or as many as eight depending on the size of the store). No matter what isle the shopper is in, video ads can be seen and heard. Productions are exclusive to the store and its vendors, distributors, and brokers. Advertising slots are limited. The goal is to induce vendor participation by giving them as many chances as possible to reach customers resulting in increased sales for both the vendor and the retailer.
Based on three screens, an advertiser can reach 180 customers per hour (60 per screen, per hour plus an additional ten spots on the radio broadcast bringing the total exposure tom190 customers per hour.
