August 30, 2008 - Sonora, Mexico - The western state of Sonora is home to one of Mexico’s fastest growing aerospace clusters. It is currently hosts 34 firms with aerospace manufacturing capabilities that include:
• Precision 4 and 5 axis machining
• Electronics and electrical manufacturing & assembly
• Investment casting
• Secondary processing
• Composites manufacturing
• Avionics
Although aerospace manufacturers are located throughout Sonora, the main concentration of these companies is in the region of the adjacent communities of Guaymas and Empalme.
The state government provides incentives to companies which include project specific fiscal and non-fiscal benefits. Additionally, its Soft Landing Office provides free services to help companies to set up their operations as efficiently and as expeditiously as possible.
