Songun Is Sword For Peace

Wars in the past were accompanied by ruthless destruction, slaughter and disaster. The appalling sanguinary wars caused the loss of 3,600 million lives. The 19th century witnessed the loss of 5.5 million lives and the 20th century the loss of 240 million lives. In the 50 years after World War II more than 100 wars broke out, thus causing the loss of 24 million lives.

(1888PressRelease) April 18, 2007 - Therefore, it can be said that war itself is a “devil” hell-bent on human slaughter and a “trap” giving rise to disaster and misfortune. War brings unbearable disasters upon man and brings about national ruin in an instant. That is why mankind is opposed to war and wishes for peace.

Methods of achieving peace differ with countries and nations. Some countries and nations beg for the superpower’s “nuclear umbrella”, others declare themselves to keep neutrality forever with a view to preserving peace and still others entrust national defence entirely to another country.

However, in the present world where the law of the jungle governs the most reliable peace is guaranteed by the military strength of one’s own country which is so powerful that no one can dare to flout.

As soon as the United States applied pressure on Iraq on the deceptive pretext of her “possession of mass destruction weapons” the latter, in an attempt to avoid the outbreak of a war, went as far as to admit the UN arms inspection group into her land and, showing all her military bases and even the presidential palace, destroyed a hundred and dozens of missiles, thus leaving herself in a defenceless state. No sooner had things come to such a pass than the United States mercilessly attacked barehanded Iraq by force of arms, killed a great number of innocent Iraqi people, and occupied the country. The Iraqi war showed that peace is not ensured simply because one begs for it and that acceding to the brigandish demand of the United States does not prevent war but gives rise to it. Lebanon today where owing to Israeli military invasion thousands of Lebanese were either killed or injured and hundreds of thousands of refugees occurred in a matter of one month and the present developments in Palestine prove that peace is by no means achieved merely because one wishes for it.

At present peace is ensured on the Korean peninsula which is known as a region fraught with the greatest peril of nuclear war on the face of the globe. This is because the powerful military strength of the DPRK which has been consolidated as firm as a rock by the Songun politics resolutely frustrates the sinister design of the United States which is obsessed with aggressive war fever.

Over the past several decades, the United States, watching for a chance to unleash another war to invade the north of the Korean peninsula, caused the “Pueblo incident,” the “EC-121” espionage plane incident, the “Panmunjom incident”, etc. and raised a clamour for nuclear inspection. By so doing it gave rise to the danger of a war breaking out at the slightest provocation.

The joint military exercises the United States is now conducting against the DPRK from time to time, the reorganization of the armed forces of aggression the United States is now carrying on, while croaking about the “redeployment” and “strategic flexibility” of the US troops in south Korea, the continuous shipping of various kinds of the latest weapons and murderous equipment, etc. into south Korea—all this clearly shows how frantically the United States is trying to make preparations for carrying out a preemptive strike against Korea, while forging its sword of aggression.

However, the United States dare not trigger off another war on the Korean peninsula, though it fancies itself to be the “superpower” and suffers defeats in succession in political and military confrontation with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The maintenance of peace on the Korean peninsula up to the present totally results from a mighty war deterrent which Korea has built up impregnably on the strength of Songun.

The Korean nation owes its existence, dignity and prosperity to Songun and Asian peace and security are also guaranteed by it. Without Songun the Korean peninsula would be reduced to a sea of fire of nuclear war and the world would suffer the ravages of nuclear war.

The power of a nation lies in Songun and Songun prevents war. If a sovereign state is to defend national destiny and attain prosperity, it should administer politics of Songun.

Songun is a great sword for peace.
