February 20, 2009 - The winning song, selected by a panel of local celebrity judges and announced on March 4th, will be used during The San Diego Socker’s 2009-2010 home games at the renovated Del Mar Arena. Season tickets for home games are now available for purchase online at www.sdsockers.com
“The Sockers have had long history in San Diego, and we wanted San Diegans to have the opportunity to cheer their home team every game with a home-grown song,” said Phil Salvagio, head coach of the San Diego Sockers.
The competition is open to the public and free to enter. Contestants can submit the song, or just the words of a song, via CD, paper, or YouTube by March 1st, 2009. The winner will be awarded $500, two season passes, and two replica jerseys.
The judging panel includes: David Peckinpaugh, CEO of the San Diego Convention and Visitor Bureau; Ralph Rubio, founder of Rubios Restaurant, Vic Salazar, former NBC anchor and media consultant; Dan McLellan, Sandiego.com’s sports writer and podcast host, and the San Diego Charger Girls. Submissions should be mailed to:
