Society Of Trust And Estate Practitioners (STEP) To Offer Continuing Professional Development Courses On Trusts And International Taxation

The Swiss-German and Liechtenstein Branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) has teamed together with LawInContext, to offer a continuing professional development course on trusts and international taxation.


(1888PressRelease) July 26, 2007 - Zurich, Switzerland - The Swiss-German and Liechtenstein Branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) has teamed together with LawInContext, the interactive knowledge and training ventured created by the global law firm, Baker & McKenzie, to offer a CPD course on trusts and international taxation. The course will involve eight full day live sessions in Zurich, with each session preceded by preparation done online using LawInContext’s Private Banking Helpdesk. Case studies will be provided in advance of each session, and will form part of the preparation work and self study. The course is designed to be practical and fun, and will address issues faced by the clients of typical private banks, trust and insurance companies. Those participating will be able to choose to do individual sessions within the programme (eight sessions to choose from), regional blocks (four to choose from) or the full programme. CPD credits will be available to those completing the course. The following topics will be discussed during the course:

● Trusts and the Principles of International Income and Transfer Taxes – 23rd Aug. 2007

● Domiciliaries and Non-Domiciliaries: Understanding the UK Tax System and its Treatment of Trust Arrangements –13th December 2007

● Wealth Owners in Europe and the Use of Trusts – 4th March 2008

● North America: Trusts for Families with Canadian or U.S. Connections – 3rd June 2008

● Latin America and the Use of Trusts – 9th September 2008

● Asia and the Trust – 9th December 2008

● Switzerland and the Taxation of Trust Arrangements – during 1st Week March 2009

● Cross-Border Planning: When Families and Investments are scattered Around the World – during 1st Week June 2009
