May 03, 2007 - This year, Bogota has been declared “The World’s Capital of the Book”, and as part of the multiple events organized to celebrate and promote the recognition, the city will be hosting a unique and amazing event, which combines both the passion and love for books and soccer, and which will captured through the lens of the photographer Carlos Hoyos and his HELIXCAM.
“A Book to the Soccer Game” as the event has been named will take place this coming Sunday, May 6th at the soccer stadium “El Campin” in Bogota. The entire event will be captured using five different types of cameras and multiple angles to achieve a complete 360◦ degree panoramic picture of all the 40,000 (forty thousand) people attending the event. The HELIXCAM, a remote control helicopter equipped with a special camera system, will also be taking close range aerial still pictures of the event.
“The idea is to bring both passions together as one, and capture the emotions and love of people for both books and soccer through out the entire soccer game from the ground as well as from the air, and later on be able to see it with their own eyes on the newspaper, magazines, books and exhibitions, bringing them closer many more times” said Hoyos, who is in charge of the photographic production.
Father Alirio Lopez, the voice in favor of the reconciliation and the nonviolence, will be the one who indicates the moment at which the public located in the tribunes will rise holding their book in their hands to be photographed by HELIXCAM and the other cameras.
“A Book to the Soccer Game” was created by Serendipity Productions in conjunction with Carlos Hoyos and with the support of the city’s mayor, Luis Eduardo Garzón as well as Secretariat of Culture, Recreation and Sport, Metropolitan Police, Firemen, DPAE, Dimayor, Santa Fe C.D and Millionaires sports club, Planeta and Norma Editors. A selection of the photographic study will be published in newspapers and magazines online and printed media.
