The company decided to put its new product, “Warmer Winter Heated Floor Mats,” to the test last winter at the Cleveland Clinic’s main campus in Cleveland and University Suburban Health Center in Euclid. The tests went very well, and now the company is promoting the product nationwide for the upcoming winter.
Martinson-Nicholls guarantees that its Warmer Winter Heated Floor Mats will eliminate snow, ice and water around the clock to provide a non-slip surface for customers, employees or patients using wheelchairs or walkers.
“Our Warmer Winter Heated Floor Mats produce a portable radiant heat that is ideal for high-traffic public areas and entranceways, where snow, ice and slush could become a major safety hazard,” stated Dan Ruminski, President of Martinson-Nicholls.
Last winter, two Warmer Winter Heated Floor Mats were installed outside the main entrance of the Cleveland Clinic to provide a snow-free six-foot path for patients to reach the door safely. Then, on the inside, to protect against slipping, Waterhog Premier Roll Goods carpet matting was used to trap dirt and water.
“The custom dual-mat solution of heated mats on the outside and water-grabbing matting on the inside creates a system that gives patients, visitors and staff at the Clinic a safe surface to walk on or maneuver a wheelchair,” said John Boike, Director of Environmental Services at Cleveland Clinic. The Clinic is installing more mats for
this season’s upcoming winter weather.
At University Hospitals’ Suburban Health Center, the Warmer Winter Heated Floor Mat was installed last winter at the patient discharge area of the Center’s surgery center.
“The area where we installed the mat was notorious for snow and ice buildup and required constant attention by our maintenance staff during bad weather,” stated Chris J. Ricchiuto, Director of Facility Operations at University Suburban.
“Now the area is virtually maintenance free. The mat has such a nice appearance that we have opted to leave it in place year round,” Ricchiuto, said.
Also used for ramps and outside entrance stairways, the Warmer Winter Heated Floor Mats are designed to be left outside and operated continuously for the entire winter season, so they can replace more expensive canopies and enclosures, which cannot be used in certain locations.
The Warmer Winter Heated Floor Mat is made of high-grade Nitrile rubber and features:
◦ a non-slip, low –profile surface for wheelchair traction;
◦ grommets on all four corners;
◦ 10-foot cord that incorporates an in-line GFI;
◦ low 24-volts to create heat,
◦ self-regulating 35 watts and 140 BTU per sq. ft. of heat output; and
◦ standard 120VAC, 15A circuit, with all electrical components UL listed.
