February 05, 2008 - Los Angeles, CA - You may not yet recognize composer, songwriter, actor and the man behind the make-up Smokey Miles, but you’ve heard his work. He has songs in "All the Love You Cannes", "Tales from the Crapper," "Die You Zombie Bastards", and new releases including "Eyes of the Woods," "Ted V Mikels Story" and the May/June 2008 release, “Poultrygeist.”
All this film making activity is nothing new to Smokey Miles. His songs have appeared in films including "The Edge of Seventeen", "Return to Two Moon Junction"), TV shows (HBO's "First and Ten", "Calamity Jayne's Asylum") various records and comedy songs for The Premiere Radio Network, the top producers of comedy material in the U.S. He composed the score and two original songs for Todd Felderstein’s multi-award winning documentary “Magic(s)” and won Best Soundtrack Award 2006 from the Los Angeles Independent Film Awards. Not content merely to let his music do the talking, he has recently been performing regularly on Academy Awards Nominee/Golden Globe Award winner “Sally Kirkland and Friends” cable TV show in Los Angeles, providing a show theme song as well. He also composed main songs for and appeared in “The Black Cat Cabaret” which ran for a year and a half at The Edgemar Center for the Arts in Santa Monica and was honored as The Los Angeles Music Awards Best Stage Musical of the Year (2005). As an actor, Miles also played the role of Moses in “Rock and Roll Heaven” at Theater 68 in Hollywood, which won Los Angeles Music Awards Best Stage Musical of the Year (2006).
Smokey Miles continues to write fresh material and audiences of all ages still enjoy hearing his poetically infused story songs and authentic blues stemming from his wide range of experiences. His music is on compilation albums such as "Mr. Snail's Halloween Party", an Elvis Tribute out of South Africa, a Bear Family Album out of Germany and a Ray Campi rockabilly compilation album out of Sweden. He has quite a few videos on YouTube with more coming all the time.
Miles is currently working on original material for actress Karen Black’s musical stage show and the “Zombie” music video for his altar ego, Count Smokula.
