February 23, 2007 - From September to November of 2006, Staples launched its third annual Staples Invention Quest contest challenging people across America to invent the next great office product. From the thousands that entered, Staples selected 200 ideas to move forward in the contest. The list of 200 ideas was then narrowed down to 30.
Two of those top 30 inventions are the creation of Hamilton's own Scott Clark. Scott's two inventions selected by Staples into its top 30 are...
Perfect Paper Folder
Perfectly folds brochures and letters in seconds eliminating those sloppy off angled folds that occur when folding brochures by hand.
Portable Car to Office WorkStation
The "Portable Car to Office Workstation" is a passenger side workstation for the car that can also be used to safely carry a laptop and paperwork back and forth from the car to the office or home.
Last year, Scott invented a Clip that attached papers to a ringed binder without the need of using a hole punch.
"Being a finalist in Staples Invention Quest last contest was a huge honor and a memory that I'll never forget", Scott said happily. "It's rare to find a company that's willing to take the time to actually listen to their customers to find out what their needs really are. To me it shows that Staples is committed to growing and providing innovative products that people need in everyday life. I was extremely honored to be part of the contest last year and to make it back to the top 30 again this year, with two different products, is indescribable".
Later this month, Staples will narrow the list of 30 inventions down to 15 and then announce the top 5 on April 2nd.
Even if he doesn’t make the next cut, Scott said that he's proud to have made it into the top 30. He hopes it will inspire his children and everyone in his community to take advantage of every opportunity that life has to offer in order to follow your dreams.
