Small Fishing Lure Brand, The Original Mr. Wiffle Sonic Tail, Finds New Fish To Fry On The World Wide Web

With little no money to promote their older or newer products some inventors and companies must seek out new ways of competing in a larger and more competitive global marketplace. For Mr. Wiffle Sonic Tail Lures a “Cult Classic” fishing lure once heralded as one of the “Six Must Have Fishing Lures in the World” this meant letting go of nearly two decades of dealing with distributors.

(1888PressRelease) June 02, 2008 - First introduced nearly twenty years ago, the Original Mr. Wiffle Sonic Tail lure was hardly an overnight success. The company’s owner Ted Sheridan didn’t have the large corporate budget required to compete with the major tackle manufacturers and their massive television campaigns. What he did have was a unique soft plastic fishing lure that Sheridan knew from his own experiences would catch more fish in both saltwater and freshwater than all the other lures he had ever fished. Armed with this first hand knowledge Sheridan decided to send thousands of dollars of free lures to every outdoor writer and television fishing show for their own product testing. It wasn’t long before the many positive reviews came pouring in and one outdoor writer for the Miami Herald even wrote a half page article on the front page of its Sunday edition, “Mr. Wiffle Makes a Most Alluring Lure”.

From that day forward Mr. Wiffle Lures were in big demand and were being written and talked about in the pages of practically every major fishing publication. Mr. Wiffle lures were also talked about and being used on many nationally televised fishing shows like the “Mark Sosin’s Saltwater Journal” or “The In-Fisherman”. It was at this point with all the positive reviews and mentions, Sheridan being the sole promoter of Mr. Wiffle Lures decided one day in 1994 to call the controversial and highly listened to “Rush Limbaugh Radio Talk Show” to see if he could get a word in edgewise on the topic of small businesses competing in the large corporate world of mass marketing. In that one half hour segment with Sheridan as the caller, he managed to talk up the product without ever mentioning the brand name; sending hundreds of Rush Limbaugh’s twenty million listeners to email or call the show inquiring as to this amazing new product.

In 2005 most fishing lures were being produced outside of the United States and most small lure companies making a U.S.A. made product could no longer compete with the huge numbers of imports; resulting in a lost of valuable placements in the large discount Marts and stores.

To further complicate matters for small companies like Mr. Wiffle Lures, there was an over all reduction in space allowed for any related fishing tackle products due to the fact the Fishing Tackle Industry was begining to come full circle and consumers were returning in large numbers to the once popular “Mom and Pop” and Independent Tackle Dealers for purchasing and maintaining their fishing tackle and equipment. A twenty year trend of putting all your fishing tackle related eggs in the one basket of the big retailers and marts was being reversed and Mr. Wiffle Lures was determined not to be one of this new trends casualties.

Unable to compete with larger fishing lure companies, Mr. Wiffle Lures pulled its remaining product from distribution and now after a couple years of absence Mr. Wiffle Lures is selling its products and famous lures via the internet. Believing that “Made in the U.S.A.” still remains a very desirable and viable attribute, especially for fishing lures, Mr. Wiffle has launched its new website where fishermen can now find these famous lures all in one place within the user friendly and informative atmosphere.

The bottom line is not always determined by how little something costs, but rather most times it is about quality and value and giving the customer what they like and want. This new approach and website allows Mr. Wiffle Lures to do just that.
