April 19, 2008 - Minden, NV — The Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation is delighted to add Solerra® Sunless Tanning brand (http://www.solerra.com) and SolarActive® line of color change products (http://www.solaractiveintl.com) to our valued retail partners. Each new retail partner is vital to the success of providing shade covers to the schools around the country.
The SHADE ACROSS AMERICA CAMPAIGN is a program dedicated to supplying funds for shade covers to schools in the USA with the help of retail partners. "My mission with the ‘Shade Across America' Program is to help schools in the US get one or more shade structures to protect the kids from the harmful UV rays," says William Barth, President & C.E.O. for the Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation. "The Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation is passionate in our effort to protect children from the dangers of the sun, which can lead to a diagnosis of skin cancer as early as in their teens," adds Barth.
The Shade Across America Program will work in conjunction with retailers raising money to provide shade structures over school play areas with a "Sun Smart Reward Card”. Participating retail partners will donate a portion of the proceeds from sales to help fund shade structures for the schools. The foundation is flooded with inquiries from schools that urgently require a protected, shady spot for kids to play, but don’t have funds in their budget for a shade structure. Barth created the practical "Sun Smart Reward Card" to eliminate paper work for grants and fundraisers. With each new retail partner who signs up, the more funds are available to get the much needed shady spot for schools. This is a national campaign involving hundreds of schools across the country. The additional revenue impact could be enormous considering the possibility of thousands of new customers shopping at their stores or web site.
The Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation is joining forces with the largest shade manufacturer in the USA, USA SHADE & Fabric Structures to provide the shade structures. “We have to step up to our responsibility as the leader in the shade industry and join in the Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation’s efforts to provide a cool UV protected area for all children to play regardless of the financial status of the school,” states Chairman Basil Haymann.
The shade structures are available in a variety of fabric and colors. The fabrics allow for cool air circulation and virtually unlimited design options & applications which are aesthetically pleasing.
