Serving Greater St. Louis, including western Illinois, SittersLink is the first Missouri-based Web site that connects sitters with such customers in need. Scores of qualified sitters now have signed up in every Greater St. Louis zip code and neighborhood. The much-needed service continues to grow as sitters and families sign up from wider geographical regions. Eventually, Lenk plans to make SittersLink a national company.
“I’ve needed and used all types of sitters one time or another,” Lenk said. “On top of everything else, I run the family business,” she said of Castle’s Grocery & Café in Troy, Mo. “SittersLink exists and is successful because I know first-hand what my customers want. I know what kind of qualified help they need. Fortunately, sitters have flocked to our site and their credentials are quite high.”
The secure SittersLink site invites employee profiles to be submitted by babysitters, nannies, elder care sitters, house sitters, and pet sitters of every ilk. Then, potential employers (“families”) who visit the site may peruse the profiles FREE. If families find sitters they’d like to contact, they may join SittersLink and have unlimited access to all types of sitters’ contact information for three months for a one-time fee of $39.95.
Just about every time that Lenk logs on the internet to administer her SittersLink site, she discovers that the geographical area she serves has grown because new sitters have signed up and new families have become members. Soon, Lenk expects to serve much of the Midwest. Eventually, SittersLink is designed to become a national company.
Perhaps Lenk finds time to run her Web business, in addition to the family store, for two reasons.
For the first time in a long time, her family doesn’t have any pets for her to pamper. “But, in the past, it has been a zoo at our house. We’ve had dogs and cats, horses, lambs, pigs, rabbits, birds, and squirrels for pets. And, no, we do not live on a farm!”
