November 06, 2006 - Sadie Hawkins day is usually observed on the Saturday that follows November 9th, but according to the Old Farmer's Almanac, is widely celebrated on November 13th. Sadie Hawkins Day is a rare holiday that originated in the late 1930's in Al Capp's "Li'l Abner" cartoon. The cartoon Sadie was the daughter of the Mayor of the town of Dogpatch. The Mayor was desperately trying to marry off his daughter, so he held a race and dubbed the day "Sadie Hawkins Day". Single men were given a head start in the race, but any man caught by a woman had to become her husband.

to marriage, women usually just ask a man out on a date. The day is widely celebrated on college campuses and Sadie Hawkins dances are held in high schools across the nation.

Get Talking
Simple conversation is an ice breaker. Talking opens the door to finding
