ShopBot’s New Retro Z Increases Performance Of Older ShopBot CNCs

ShopBot Tools has released an attachment to their popular CNC robotic machines that will allow older tools to be upgraded with more high-performance components.

(1888PressRelease) March 31, 2009 - ShopBot Tools, a world leader in the design, manufacture and sale of affordable CNC systems, introduces the PRS Retro Z Axis. Comprised of an extruded aluminum Z beam and a captured bearing system, the Retro Z allows owners of older ShopBot PR and PRT machines to upgrade to a newer PRS-style Z axis. The PRS Retro Z Axis increases rigidity and tool accuracy in the older-model ShopBots and is a great way to rejuvenate a ShopBot’s performance after years of dependable use. The Retro Z is one of many after-market accessories available from ShopBot to improve tool function or help ShopBotters get the highest level of performance from their used or new ShopBots.

The PRS Retro Z Axis permits eight inches (203 mm) of stop-to-stop vertical travel and will not limit a tools’ current travel in the X or Y axes. Multiple hole locations on the mounting plate allow for the Retro Z to be fastened at variable heights, and a corresponding motor plate is included to allow for the mounting of a customer’s existing Z motors to the Retro Z Axis. At this time, dual Z configurations are not available.

When calling to order the PRS Retro Z Axis, customers should have the model number of their current Z motors and know the style – strut or single piece – of their Y car. PR & PRT Customers may also need a spindle or router adapter kit. ShopBot sales staff can answer any questions about Retro Z upgrades.
