  • Milwaukee-Waukesha, WI (1888PressRelease) February 08, 2014 - In accordance with the American Staffing Association's efforts to remove barriers against the hiring of long-term unemployed, during 2013, SEEK Careers/Staffing's clients hired 1,322 of SEEK's temporary employees into full-time jobs.

Among the hired are U.S. military veterans and those who had been out of work for long periods of time. SEEK has endorsed best practices in hiring for 43 years. Some of these practices include the active recruitment of veterans and placement of eager workers in full-time positions with reputable local businesses.

"SEEK has gone to great lengths to recruit qualified individuals for our many open positions - our high number of workers placed full-time is proof," said Carol Ann Schneider, CEO.

It is a well-known fact that when job seekers are out of work for longer periods of time they have a tougher time finding opportunities. According to the Council of Economic Advisers, a person who has been unemployed for five weeks or less has a 31% chance of getting a job. Once they've been unemployed between 27 and 52 weeks though, those odds drop to 12%.

"It's a cruel Catch-22 - the longer you're unemployed, the more unemployable you may seem," President Obama said in remarks delivered Friday regarding best hiring practices.

SEEK filled the highest number of positions in the light industrial manufacturing sector and will continue to actively recruit qualified job seekers from all walks of life in 2014.
