July 17, 2008 - The U.S. government in conjunction with the Department of Homeland security has put together a list of effective tools that they see as highly effective in fighting terrorism. The Sealock Bar seal has the honor of being placed on this list. The Sealock bar seal was the only device chosen by Homeland Security as a device that could fight terrorism.
The manufacturers of the Sealock were the only manufacturer of seals that were placed on the list and the only one on the list that belongs to the organization, Custom Trade Partnership against Terrorism.
The Sealock was created in 1995 and is the only device of this kind that will seal and lock a cargo container. It is designed to fit most cargo container doors.
The Sealock bar seal is made of steel and the seals have been engraved with the same serial number to prevent others from counterfeiting the device.
Cargo containers are flawed when it comes to how they are sealed and the Sealock bar seal overcomes this weakness.
Because the Sealock bar seals are made of steel and are two inches wide, this thick seal requires several different tools to cut it. To cut into Sealock bar seals, one would need such tools as a cable cutter and a power tool. Since most criminals do not carry these types of tools, the criminal cannot break into a container protected by a Sealock bar seal.
Another unique feature of the Sealock bar seal is the black and silver texture. The texture of the seal makes it very easy to spot any signs of tampering. A thief who tries to cut into the Sealock and then hide the breach would have an impossible task in front of them. Welding a Sealock seal back together would take a lot of time and effort.
If the Sealock is tampered with, the seal on the container is also broken so there is no way for a thief to hide the breach. The cable seal that locks and seals the cargo container at the same time is protected by U.S. patent. The security bar on the Sealock is also protected by U.S. patent. The Sealock is compliant to C-TPAT specifications
