Scholar Athletes Focus of YTA Annual Letter

Donors Encouraged to Support Robust Program Steeped in Academics and Tennis for Youth.

Oakland, CA (1888PressRelease) November 17, 2008 - Youth Tennis Advantage (YTA) ramps up its annual letter campaign today through a call to donors and other potential financial supporters to help cultivate more scholar athletes by enriching the lives of low income children and teens through its academic and tennis enrichment program based in Oakland and throughout the Bay Area. YTA offers potential donors access to an online donation hub located at www.youthtennis.org.

With an alliance formed with First Serve, a nationally acclaimed organization that incorporates life-skills training as part of an ongoing after school curriculum, and collaborations with various other organizations and community services agencies, YTA is poised to cultivate a greater number of scholar athletes, kids and teens who perform well academically and in tennis in a comprehensive and engaging after school program.

“It is always exciting at this particular time of the year anticipating the depth of support YTA will receive from its donors and dedicated supporters,” said Loretta Conway, executive director of YTA. “This organization has been able to stay afloat during these very difficult months of economic uncertainty mainly because so many people understand how crucial YTA programs are and its potential for children and teens living with very limited financial means, or in many instances, living in poverty. Looking ahead, we hope to continue the momentum that has been set forth so that our awesome Bear Trax program and UC Berkeley, not to mention the numerous after school programs currently operating around the bay area, can thrive and grow and cultivate even more scholar athletes.”

The annual letter specifically details how a donation of $100 for example will benefit the program by enabling YTA to purchase snacks and practice balls for any given after school YTA site. At the highest donation level of $5,000, this level will boost the number of children, into the hundreds, who can be accommodated for participating in an engaging YTA summer program.

“Anywhere among the donation table people will see exactly how their gifts will benefit YTA programs and, ultimately the kids,” added Ms. Conway.

Youth Tennis Advantage is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to serving youth in Bay Area, low income communities through a comprehensive program of tennis and academic tutoring that promotes the physical, educational, and life skills necessary to prepare and empower them for leadership in their communities, and success in their personal lives.
