Save Austin Music Announces Non-Profit Umbrella Status, New Sponsors & One Day Sale On Tickets For Premiere Gala

The grassroots organization for Austin musicians, Save Austin Music, is now under the 501 (c)(3) umbrella of the Austin Community Foundation, just in time for the Gala Event at One World Theatre October 17th where the public service announcements filmed by Lee Daniel (Slacker, Dazed and Confused) and starring Austin musicians will premiere to the world.

Austin-San Marcos, TX (1888PressRelease) October 15, 2008 - The Austin grassroots music advocacy group Save Austin Music is proud to announce its sponsorship by the Austin Community Foundation, which will give the organization non-profit status for donations to its Public Service Announcement campaign. Beginning October 15th, a fund will be established in the organization's name and donations for the "Austin Music: You're Invited" PSA Campaign will carry tax deductible status in time for the group's Premiere Bash this Friday October 17th.

A host of new sponsors have signed up for the Hollywood-style red carpet premiere party, which now includes One World Theatre, Tito's Vodka, Red Bull, Amplify Credit Union, Twin Liquors, Darwin's Pub, The Mickler Group, Live Music Inc, Cielo Water, Manneken Brussel Distribution, Sweet Leaf Tea, MusicMakers Rentals, South Austin Music, Hoovers Cooking, and Progress Coffee. The Premiere Gala will feature free food & beverages for ticket holders, as well as six of Austin's premiere live acts and a silent auction.

The group is celebrating its good fortune by having a one day sale on tickets for the event to encourage those affected by the recent economic downturn to attend. General Admission tickets to the party will go on sale for 24 hours beginning Wednesday, October 15th for $27.50 (General Admission) and working musician tickets will sell for $15.

The organization's Public Service Announcements were directed by Lee Daniel (Slackers; Dazed and Confused; Co-Founder, Austin Film Society), and was produced by a volunteer crew for less than $500. The Premiere Bash will feature live music by a half dozen of Austin's best live performers. Tickets are available online at http://www.SaveAustinMusic.com .

Save Austin Music was started by musician Troy Dillinger, a 25 year veteran of the Austin music scene, to act as a catalyst for positive change in the artistic community that has helped create Austin's unique ambience. The goal of the organization's Public Service Announcements is to bring more Austinites out to experience the live music that is a cultural treasure unique to "The Live Music Capitol of the World," and appeals to Austinites to see one Austin band a month.

Accompanying the event's red carpet are a silent auction, free food and beverages, guest speaker Paul Oveisi from Austin City Council's Live Music Task Force & Brad Stein from the Austin Music Commission, and KVUE's Mark Murray. Local music charities Austin Music Foundation, Austin Latino Music Foundation, the South Austin Museum of Popular Culture, and others will host information booths while live performances by John Pointer, Troy Dillinger, Neckbone w. rapper Nov27, Dan Dyer, Nakia, and Ian McLagan & The Bump Band will prime the audience for an All-star Jam with special guest appearances including Lubbock Legend Ponty Bone and more. A special appearance by Murali Coryell (son of guitar legend Larry Coryell) with special guest Ernie Durawa, will close the night.
