Sarah L. Garcia has almost three decades of military service
Colonel Sarah L. Garcia, Region Commander for the Office of Special Investigations of the U.S. Air Force (AFOSI), has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Military Support Services. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction.
- Honolulu, HI (1888PressRelease) March 30, 2011 - These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.
Having recently completed her 26th year with the United States military, Garcia is hereby recognized for her unwavering dedication to the safety and welfare of the American populous. For the past three years of her career, she has served as Region Commander for the U.S. AFOSI, a position that requires she oversee command and control of units throughout Asia-Pacific, manage multi-million dollar military contracts and investigate violent crimes. Having spent 21 years of her career in special investigations, she is uniquely primed to identify and neutralize criminal, intelligence and terrorist threats.
In addition to her most recent honor from Cambridge Publishing, Garcia was decorated with a Bronze Star Medal, four Meritorious Service Medals, a Defense Meritorious Service Medal, an Air Force Commendation Medal, an Air Force Achievement Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Medal. Garcia attributes much of her success to the extensive training she received while serving in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps, and feels that her educational background and the support of her mentors have enabled her to attain personal and professional fulfillment.
An alumna of Troy University, Garcia holds a master's degree in human resource management. Additionally, she earned an associate degree in foreign language from the Defense Language Institute of Monterey Peninsula College, as well as a bachelor's degree in biology from Angelo State University. Garcia is the current second vice president of the Hispanic American Police Command Officers Association and is an affiliate of Women in Federal Law Enforcement, an organization that placed her in the senior category of the Women in Federal Law Enforcement in 2005 - an honor of which she is especially proud. Likewise, she is a member and women's advocate for the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
