February 26, 2009 - Muscat: Against 120 exhibitors last year. The event which opened on February 24 at the Municipality Fair Ground will run until March 24, from 5pm to 12 midnight.
According to Hassan Mohammed, Sr. Manager – Festivals at OITE, SMEs from the UAE have the biggest turnout. “This year’s Spring Fair is well represented by various countries from the Gulf region and beyond. Of the total number, over 95 SMEs are coming from the UAE, followed by Oman, Pakistan and Syria. Despite the prevailing economic crisis, the Salalah Spring Fair 2009 has gathered 220 exhibitors, up from 120 in 2008.
With the increasing number of exhibitors year after year, the Salalah Spring Fair is now one of the venues that demonstrate stronger ties between Oman and the neighboring countries. OITE events such as the Spring Fair help facilitate and further strengthen business partnerships among the SMEs and the growing market in Oman. It likewise helps promote tourism in the region.
The Salalah Spring Fair welcomes families, children and visitors to the world of ‘Lubana’, where everyone can freely indulge in a bunch of exciting activities that meets the needs of both locals and expatriates.
“Anyone on the look out for new products, novelty items or simply wanting to have fun is encouraged to come to Spring Fair 2009. The event is packed with entertainment, a range of fabulous and affordable products such as gift items, perfumes, clothes, shoes, bags, leather products, textiles, household decors, jewelry and accessories. Just name it and you’ll surely have it at the Spring Fair. It’s a place to visit to check out what’s new for the next season”, Hassan said.
The Salalah Spring Fair is open to public on Saturdays and Tuesdays. Sundays and Wednesdays are exclusively dedicated for ladies to visit the event; while Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays are for families.
Products on display are from UAE, China, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen, Kuwait, Qatar, Pakistan, Jordan, India and Oman.
