January 29, 2009 - On Wednesday, March 4th, Sail Safaris is hosting up to 8 guests for a snorkeling and sailing tour of the Virgin Islands National Park. All the proceeds from the tour are donated to the Friends as part of their 2009 Seminar Series. The series provides an opportunity for Friends of the National Park members to learn about the ecology of the coral reef and the neighboring beaches. Non - members are welcome but pay a slightly higher fee.
The sailing tour sets sail from Cruz Bay, St John and visits several islands in the park. The seminar covers tropical plants found on the beaches as well as snorkeling the coral reef. Sail Safaris has offered this tour for three years running. It has been a great success, selling out every year with several participants returning year after year.
Sail Safaris is pleased to be able to give back to the Virgin Islands National Park on St John for the 3rd year of this long running program. The tour meets at 9am on the Cruz Bay Dock, bring a hat, sunscreen, water, lunch and seminar fee. They will take up to 8 people on two beach catamarans. Advance reservations are required.
In addition to the seminar series Sail Safaris offers day sails, snorkeling tours, sailing lessons and boat rentals from their St John location. They also offer excursions to the British Virgin Islands aboard their six passenger catamaran, Fly Girl.
