June 28, 2006 - Sacramento, CA -- Citing the need for citizens of all age groups across the country to have access to safe, affordable prescription medicines, the Congress of California Seniors (CCS) has launched www.SafeSourceRx.com, an innovative outreach that is the first truly, global approach that allows the public to benefit from lower prices for prescriptions from licensed registered pharmacies both within and outside the U.S.
Hank Lacayo, President of CCS, said that the site is the culmination of more than a year of rigorous planning and preparation, a reflection of the role of CCS in providing oversight and planning for the expanded outreach of www.SafeSourceRx.com.
Lacayo notes that the CCS involvement provides a model for advocacy groups to address significant social and medical issues. He explains that there are no requirements of premiums, co-payments, deductibles, enrollment fees, membership or dues in CCS to take advantage of the savings offered by the site.
“This is an example of meeting a pressing need for untold numbers of citizens and families across the U.S.,” Lacayo says. “Our goal is to allow people of all ages and economic status irrespective of where they live to have the health benefits that can come from access to safe, affordable prescription medicines.” Lacayo notes that there is no geographic restriction on using the site, and urges people from around the U.S. seeking prescription medicine savings to utilize the site irrespective of where they live. Both brand names and generics will be available, offering savings of up to 42 percent over other prescription drug sources, including the Part D Drug Card plan.
The site also includes information about health care issues to provide customers not only savings and health care benefits, but to empower them to be better informed consumers bt increasing awareness of health care issues that affect them.
All prescription medicines from www.SafeSourceRx.com are manufactured at FDA-approved plants and dispensed by licensed, registered pharmacies in cooperation with the management team of Universal Drug Store, a leading mail order pharmacy with operations both within the U.S. and in other countries.
The management team includes Jeff Uhl, the co-founder and president of Universal, Jeremy Cockerill, also a co-founder of Universal and , and Randall Stephanchew.
