Las Vegas, NV-AZ (1888PressRelease)
January 20, 2009 - When "Greetings From Nada Motel", an art exhibition celebrating the best of the best from Reno's art-in-motel-rooms event opens at the Barrick Museum of Natural History and Culture, 4505 Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, Nevada 89154 on January 23rd, Ann Tracy will be one of the 23 selected artists in the show.
The artists' reception is Friday January 23rd from 5 pm to 10 pm to which the public is invited. Regular museum hours are Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4:45 pm and on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. For more information call the Barrick Museum at (702) 895-3381 or Sorg at (775) 287-9559. The show continues to April 20th, 2009.
"Greetings" is the follow-up to 2008's "Selections From Dada Motel" exhibition, which was also curated by Sorg at the Barrick Museum. Both exhibitions reflect the odd mix of aesthetics that the motel event has inspired. There is no selection committee or jury deciding which artists will fill motel rooms, it's first come first served and Sorg's "Greetings" mirrors that tenet of eclectic juxtapositions. You'll see painting/drawing, photography, bronze, ceramic, installation/assemblage, neon, digital and video. Most of the work is contemporary and the artists are seasoned veterans with awards too numerous to name.
Tracy’s fine art has been exhibited from Japan to Maui to New York City. In 2003 her work, “Stop” was included in the catalog of the “Violence Against Women” exhibition, Group 78 Amnesty International, Tokyo, Japan. Her digital painting “Message 3” has been juried into the 2008 edition of American Art Collector. She has also presented a creativity workshop to feature writers at the Sacramento Bee, a daily newspaper.
Artists include:
