The Supervisory Board of RWE Dea AG appointed Thomas Rappuhn as Chief Executive Officer of RWE Dea AG with effect from 1 January 2010 at its meeting today. He will take over this position from Dr. Georg Schöning, who will retire at the end of 2009.

(1888PressRelease) June 14, 2009 - Furthermore, the Supervisory Board also appointed Ralf to Baben as a new Member of the Executive Board of RWE Dea AG with effect from 1 October 2009. He will take over responsibility for the operations portfolio from Rappuhn.

Ralf to Baben studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig and has held posts as an executive manager at MAN, KRUPP and LMG. In 2001, to Baben joined RWE Rheinbraun AG. Since 2003, he has been Managing Director of the Engineering Centre for Opencast Mining of RWE Power in Frechen.

Dr. Ulrich Jobs, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of RWE Dea AG, commented: “Georg Schöning has a long and successful track record as an executive manager. His retirement will mark the loss of a valued and experienced colleague. We are delighted that Thomas Rappuhn is available to succeed him with a sound knowledge of the business and the company.
