February 06, 2009 - Cary, N. C. Jim Passe, an intellectual property attorney based in Raleigh, N. C., will lead the Febraury 18, 2009 RTP Innovation Network monthly seminar.
Passe’s seminar is titled Deal Mapping and Legal Issues with Innovation Ideas. He will address how entrepreneurs with very early stage ideas can protect themselves and their ideas from expropriation.
The seminar will be held at the BNC Center in Cary, which also hosts other business innovation events, including the newly created RTP Entrepreneurial Network, a joint partnership of F.O.C.U.S. Resources, Dancing Elephants Achievement Group, and Marketing Depot USA.
“Our four business innovation networks in the RTP are designed to increase the rate of deal flow in the regional economy by addressing the needs of existing and startup companies,” said Tom Vass, the leader of the RTP Innovation Network.
“Innovation professionals, like Jim Passe, are volunteering their time to make the regional economy stronger and help local become companies more competitive,” he added.
“We are also hosting the first monthly RTP Innovation Angel Capital Exchange at the BNC Center on February 18, in an effort to highlight local companies who need growth capital to innovate,” said Vass.
The new business networks include the entire sequence of events, from new idea mapping to deal funding, that assist companies in product innovation. The network includes the recently launched RTP Product Development Guild - a local group of engineers and designers working together to improve the regional economy - which held its first organizational meeting January 29 to discuss the creation of a product design and prototyping co-op.
The RTP Guild is led by Montie Roland, a product design professional located in Morrisville, N. C.
Registration for the February 18, 2009 seminar is available at MeetUp.com. The cost, which includes lunch, is $10, payable at the door. http://newtech.meetup.com/115/calendar/9497593/
About the RTP Innovation Network: We are all about brainstorming new ideas for products and markets and helping local companies raise growth capital. Each month, we present a professional education seminar on a topic related to successful innovation. Our topics are great for both existing companies that need ideas on how to innovate, and for budding entrepreneurs who would like to create and fund a new venture. In addition to the seminar, each month, we sponsor an open forum for 4 companies to make a power point presentation about their company at the BNC Center in Cary. We call this the RTP Innovation Angel Capital Exchange. If your company would like to present, please let us know. Contact Tom Vass. tvass ( @ ) privatecapitalmarket dot com 919 9754856.
