Royal Oaks Building Group President Rich Van Tassel Receives 2010 Presidential Award

- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) January 22, 2011 - Royal Oaks Building Group, LLC (http://www.royaloaksbg.com), has announced its president, Rich Van Tassel, has been honored on behalf of the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County (HBA) with the 2010 Presidential Award in Recognition of Outstanding Service and Dedication to the HBA. The Presidential Awards are given annually to recognize those individuals that have gone above and beyond the bounds of simply volunteering to serve the association. Van Tassel was presented the award by HBA President Warren Smith at the association's Installation Dinner which took place on Dec. 9, 2010.
Among Van Tassel's noted accomplishments in 2010 was his service as the chair of Operation: Coming Home II, a joint volunteer project led by the HBA and the Triangle Real Estate and Construction Veterans (TREAC-V) that builds and donates homes for disabled combat veterans. In addition to Van Tassel's role in coordinating the project, Royal Oaks Building Group partnered with its vendors to donate the materials for the 2010 Hero Home to USMC Sgt. Stan Roberts, a member of the 2nd AAV in Camp Lejeune, N.C., and his wife, Crissy Roberts.
"I accept this award on behalf of the entire Operation: Coming Home and Royal Oaks team," said Van Tassel. "There is power in numbers, and that is what I had behind me in 2010 as we set our focus on accomplishing our goals for Operation: Coming Home II. I have a supportive family, staff and fellow HBA members to thank for our success in receiving this award, and it will continue to be my pleasure to serve the association for many years to come."

- Royal Oaks Building Group also co-built and donated a home to veteran Joey Bozik, the project's first recipient, a sergeant in the 16th Military Police Brigade based at Fort Bragg who was injured in 2004 when his Humvee hit a bomb south of Baghdad.
