(1888PressRelease) July 09, 2006 - The Denver Roller Dolls elbow their way into the historic Denver
Coliseum for their debut bout, “Dawn of The Dolls.”
But is Denver ready for their sassy brand of bruises, brawls and babes
on skates? Find out as The Green Barrettes face off against The Bad
Apples.

This gang of furious, fearless female athletes will be ready to rumble
at 7:30 p.m. on St. Paddy’s Day – and will pack the bleachers with fans
of roller derby’s latest revival. Tickets are available online at
ticketswest.com and at all King Soopers stores for $15; children 12 and
under are free. Admission includes free parking at the Coliseum.

Fans can get to know their roller dolls – and pick their favorite team –
at the Dolls’ official coming-out party Saturday, March 4, featuring DJ
Yer Momm and bands Drag the River, 18 Wheeler, and Whiskey Kiss. Be
there to meet your dolls, including championship skaters Rockett, Ivona
Killeau and Diamond Lil, and enjoy wrestling, games and raffles. The
party starts at 8:00 (doors at 7:00) at Three Kings Tavern, 60 S.
Broadway in Denver.

The Denver Roller Dolls is a skater-owned and -operated nonprofit
organization. There is no typical Roller Doll – the women of the DRD
encompass a wide variety of backgrounds, ages, shapes and skill levels.
They’re students, moms and professionals by day – but on the rink they
assume tough derby identities like Sheila Tack, Angela Death and Joy and Pain. What these women have in common are a need for speed and a love of the millennium’s most brutal women’s sport.

Invented in the 1930s, roller derby has enjoyed a number of
incarnations. The latest combines the adrenaline rush of the sport with
a punk-rock sensibility. The game consists of a series of races between
two teams of 5 players each, in which blockers attempt to help their
team’s jammer (scorer) navigate the fast-moving pack while knocking the opposing jammer down.

The Denver Roller Dolls are available for interviews, demonstrations and
appearances now – for more information contact Audrey Rugburn, Director
